Thursday

A Little Deaf History: a continuing series

Finally found something I was looking for: a Deaf South African poet!

His name was David Wright. I found his obituary from the New York Times. But I also found a great article about him at the University of Leeds. I hope his books come back into publication.

Wednesday

A Little Deaf Culture: a continuing series

So today I was curious about Africa - I did visit with a friend from the continent...so here are two links to Andrew Foster. Although born in Alabama, Mr. Foster was a devout christian missionary and founder of CMD

While not exactly what I was looking for, it was interesting....I hope you think so as well.

Tuesday

A Little Deaf History - a continuing series

There are women in History who are the trail blazers: they stand up for something they want, fight for recognition or do what is right. They inspire me. Nellie Zabel Willhite was all of these things - and a pilot besides.

Monday

A Little Deaf History - a continuing series

Ah, thanks for the week off. I needed it.

Have you ever read through the classified section of the newspaper? Perhaps you wanted to buy a vw bus, or to sell a house, or even to find a job? You have William Beadell to thank. No wonder printing is such a respected field among the deaf!
